Meet the Veggie Man

THE VEGGIE MAN

Meet the Veggie Man,
Wherever he should turn up.
He has  the color  of a turnip,
The hair of  a carrot,
He has the girth  of a squash,
And the eyes of a potato,
He is a most healthy man.
He has the legs of  a celery,
The ears of a cauliflower,
The  brain of a sweet pea
And the power of a garlic.
He is a most healthy man.

This poem has no person living or dead in mind. Any resemblance to someone you know is purely coincidental.

AUTHOR’S NOTE
I want to note again – The human brain does not discard images and language used in childhood. We never throw those away, so using them in literature to convey adult ideas is the proper work of a writer. There is no intent to insult intelligence with the simpler language and views of the world. It is, in fact, a challenge to intelligence to use all the resources given to us over a lifetime to speak well and freely. Don Knipschield
